Simulation-Based Training: Future Law Enforcement Officers of NAIA Enhance Their First Aid Skills
21-04-2025As part of the European Union's Erasmus+ grant project, the National Academy of Internal Affairs hosted a pre-medical training session for second-year cadets titled «Simulation medicine and Scenario-based Learning for Emergency Care: Psychological Assistance for Victims and Their Families, and Self-Help in Emergencies».
During the training, cadets deepened their knowledge and improved their practical skills in providing assistance to victims of different age groups in critical situations such as respiratory and cardiac arrest or airway obstruction by foreign objects. They also learned how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED), stop severe bleeding using tourniquets, dress wounds, rescue victims from under debris, provide assistance during mass casualty incidents, and perform triage at the scene of accident.
Particular attention was given to psychological support for victims and their families.
In addition to practical sessions, participants completed situational cases using the OpenLabyrinth IT platform, which simulates emergency response scenarios.
Before and after the training, cadets underwent testing to assess their knowledge of pre-medical assistance. A survey was also conducted to gather feedback on the training's results and areas for improvement.
