International Youth Security Forum “Young UA 2016”
01-08-2016Teacher from the department of Foreign Languages Myroslava Skrynyk took part in the Youth Security Forum Young UA 2016, which was held from 10 to 16 July 2016, as part of the training program at the NATO-Ukraine NATO Liaison Office in Ukraine by the Ministry of Youth and Sports Ukraine.
Young UA Security Forum 2016 is an international youth event aimed at giving young people, between 20 and 30 y.o., from 24 countries (from the USA, Canada, Germany, Sweden, the Netherlands, Poland, Turkey, Georgia and others), an insight into international political, defence and security issues as well as providing them with a social and cultural experience in Kyiv, Ukraine. The language of the forum was the English.
Speakers of the Young UA Security Forum 2016 were representatives of NATO headquarters, embassies and international organizations, scientists and professors of European universities. Including: Head of the NATO Liaison Office in Ukraine Alexander Vinnikov; Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine Ihor Zhdanov; Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania Marius Yanukonis; The representative of the NATO Liaison Office in Ukraine, Colonel-Lieutenant Ove Urup-Madsen; Lecturer Institute of International Relations and Political Science at Vilnius University Dr. Devidas Shlyekis; Teacher of the Berlin Institute for International Security dr. Magdalena Kirchner; Special Adviser to the security of the UK MOD Ukraine Phil Jones; The representative of the European Centre for Research on Security them. George. Dr. Marshall. Sebastian von Myunhov; President YATA (Youth Atlantic Treaty Assosiation) Francisco Costa Sala; The representative of the NGO Maidan of Foreign Affairs Oleksii Kuropiatnik.
During the week of 10-16 July participants had discussions and workshops dedicated to the topics of conflict resolution, peace-building, hybrid warfare, migration/displacement, and reform processes in Ukraine.Then, during the conference, participants were able to share their experience, knowledge and ideas, deepened their knowledge of international relations, politics, security and defense, took part in the discussions, improved understanding of the need for speedy implementation of reforms in Ukraine, discussed a number of political and cultural issues such as hybrid and information warfare, gender equality, national security and international cooperation. All participants were awarded diplomas.
