Exchange of experience with EUAM: Portuguese trainers familiarized themselves with the practice of psychological training at the National Academy of Internal Affairs
08-10-2025On October 7, a delegation of the European Union Advisory Mission (EUAM) and Portuguese trainers visited the National Academy of Internal Affairs.
The purpose of the visit was to familiarize foreign guests with the practice of psychological first aid training by Ukrainian specialists, as well as to exchange experience in the field of psychological training for law enforcement officers.
The representatives of the Mission and trainers were met by the leadership of the Academy, scientific and pedagogical staff and psychologists. The guests were acquainted with the main areas of activity of the NAIA, in particular in the field of psychological support for personnel, emotional burnout and stress prevention and stress resistance skills development for future law enforcement officers.
During the visit, a presentation of the training on psychological first aid provision was held, being conducted by lecturers of the Psychology Department. The program included a theoretical block and practical exercises, demonstration of action algorithms in crisis situations, modeling of real scenarios and practicing communication techniques for interacting with individuals in stressful or traumatic states.
EUAM representatives and Portuguese trainers highly appreciated the professional level of training of Ukrainian psychologists, their ability to effectively train and form applied skills. Foreign guests noted the relevance of the training topic in wartime conditions, when the skills of providing psychological assistance become an integral part of the professional competence of police officers.
The delegation also emphasized the participation in the event of cadets and students of the NAIA. They showed interest, activity, and a high level of training. This format contributed to the creation of an interactive educational and practical environment, where a real exchange of experience between Ukrainian teachers, future law enforcement officers and foreign experts was conducted.
